The Laube Cord Pack Repair Manual (LCP)
How To Adjust The Snap Connectors To adjust Snap Connectors (refer to the "SNAP CONNECTOR ADJUSTMENT DIAGRAM" in Chapter 3 The Laube Battery Pack). On the bottom of the Cordpack there are 4 Female Snap Connectors with 4 sides or tabs each with a screw in the center. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ADJUST THE SCREW! Place a tiny flat head screwdriver between the tab and the inside wall of the Cover Cap. Slightly bend the tab toward it's own screw. DO NOT ADJUST THE TAB OVER 1/32" OF IT'S ORIGINAL POSITION. It is only necessary to move the tab 1/64" or less. Do this same procedure to all 4 tabs on all 4 Snap Connectors. Once this has been done you may experience difficulty in inserting the Cordpack into the Clipper all the way. Press hard, if the tabs are unwilling to self adjust to the Clipper, remove the Cordpack and readjust the tabs back to the inside of the Cover Cap wall. Do this with the same screwdriver. Place the screwdriver between the tab and the screw in the center of the snap connector. Use the screw as leverage and bend the tab back towards it's original position.
How To Remove The Cover Cap Assembly from The Housing To remove the Cover Cap Assembly (refer to the SNAP CONNECTOR ADJUSTMENT DIAGRAM in Chapter 3 under the heading REMOVING COVER CAP ASSEMBLY). Cover Caps are held into place by 4 Seal Pins (PART # 5200060000). These are easily pressed down into the Cover Cap with a punch and a small hammer. Do not use excessive force, lightly tap the Seal Pins down. If you do not have a hole punch, another Seal Pin can be placed over the existing one in the Housing and tapped into it. This will press the existing Seal Pin into the Cover Cap and allow you to remove it. Follow this procedure on all four of the Seal Pins. To remove the Cover Cap, simply pry up lightly. You may be able to reuse the Cover Cap and Housing. Unsolder the two connections and remove the original Seal Pins.
How To Remove The cordpack Housing To remove the Cordpack Housing follow the directions under "How To Remove The Cover Cap Assembly From The Housing." After this has been accomplished, unscrew the Switch Nuts and remove them. Using Cord Relief Pliers (part # 5507100) Squeeze the release on the Cord Strain Relief and slide it out of the housing.
How To replace Switches On The Laube Cordpack To replace the switch or switches on a Cordpack, follow the direction under "How To Remove The Cordpack Housing." After following those directions the switches are now accessible. Remove the silicone from the Circuit Board Assembly. Unsolder the Switch from the Circuit Board. If the Circuit Board is cracked replace it. Clean the Circuit Board with lacquer thinner to insure a good connection. Install the new switch and ALWAYS trim the excess from the P.C. Connections. Place the Circuit Board Assembly back into the Housing and install the Cover Cap Assembly and Seal Pins (see "How To Install The Cover Cap Assembly").
How To Replace the Resistor To replace the resistor on a Laube Cordpack, follow the direction under "How to Remove The Cordpack Housing." After following those directions the Resistor is now accessible. Remove the silicone from the Circuit Board Assembly. Unsolder the resistor from the Circuit board. If the Circuit Board is cracked replace it. Clean the Circuit Board with lacquer thinner to insure a good connection. Solder the new Resistor and ALWAYS trim the excess from the P.C. Connections. Route the other end of the Resistor through the Daughter Board so it comes back through it and over the top of the Resistor to the Circuit Board (see the "CORDPACK ASSEMBLY DIAGRAM"). Place the Circuit Board Assembly back into the Housing. Install the Cover Cap Assembly and Seal Pins (see "How To Install The Cover Cap Assembly").
How To Install The Cover Cap Assembly To install a Cover Cap Assembly drill new holes in the Housing. A 3/64" drill bit (part # 5504100) is needed for the correct hole size. Place the Cover Cap in the empty Housing so that it is flush with the end of the Housing. No part of the Cover Cap Assembly should protrude past the Housing. While the Cap is in position drill 4 holes (top, bottom, and one at each side). Install the Circuit Board assembly and solder onto the proper connections (see the CORDPACK ASSEMBLY DIAGRAM or the 2 SPEED CORDPACK WIRE DIAGRAM). Follow the EXACT solder configurations or damage to the equipment may occur. Place the Cover Cap Assembly back inside the Housing and lightly tap the Seal Pins in with a small hammer. NOTE: Some Service Centers have used the Drive shaft Lock screws (part # 5120020000) instead of the Seal Pins. This would make disassembly easier.

This should cover all of your service needs.
